Water Supply Advisory Committee Seeks Public Input

June 1, 2014

SANTA CRUZ (July 14, 2014) – As part of the process to ultimately improve the reliability of the water supply in Santa Cruz, the Water Supply Advisory Committee (WSAC) is now soliciting suggestions that individuals, companies, agencies, or groups would like the committee to evaluate.

“We welcome any and all ideas,” says Sarah Mansergh, committee member and co-chair of the Santa Cruz Surfrider Foundation.  “It’s time to hear from the community as we all work toward finding a solution to the ongoing issues that threaten the future of our water supply.”

Submissions should be no more than two pages and briefly describe the idea or strategy, its potential effectiveness, environmental impacts and practicability.  Please send to santacruzwatersupply@gmail.com or by hand or mail delivery to WSAC at 212 Locust Street, Suite A, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 by 5:00 p.m.Monday, July 28, 2014.

During the WSAC meeting of July 31-August 1, committee members will review the submissions and identify questions and guidelines.  Submitters will then be requested to provide a full project description by August 29 to be followed by public review of the plans in multiple venues.

For more details about the submission process, visit cityofsantacruz.com and follow the City Government menu option to Council Committees, Water Supply Advisory Committee.

The WSAC was appointed by the Santa Cruz City Council to explore the City’s water profile and develop recommendations for Council consideration.
